Faith

Now Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1

In the Amplified Version this passage reads: “Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title-deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality–faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.”

There is such a need in every Christian and especially in those who want freedom from homosexuality for faith in God. For many reasons the person caught in this sin will find believing in God and His promises difficult. The first reason is generally that the person feels God is not pleased with him or her because of homosexuality.

It is true that God looks with great displeasure and wrath on homosexuality, but that does not mean He looks on those who practice this sin in the same way. It is the will of the Father that all come to Him and be cleansed and freed from their sin by the blood of our precious Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ.

In Romans 1 it clearly states that God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. But God gives us all a way to turn from our sin and be cleansed.

Thank God for His great mercy and love poured out on us so that we can be brought from death to life in Him. He wants us to have abundant life and to walk in His righteousness.

Again in Romans 1 it states: “For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written, ‘the righteous shall live by faith.'” Abraham was the primary example of this truth as he had faith that God would provide a lamb for the sacrifice when he was called on by God to sacrifice his only son. His faith was counted as righteousness.

In the same way, God tells us we cannot please Him without faith. In Hebrews 11:6, God says: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Because of this truth, we must seek and find faith in God and fight against unbelief.

God is righteous in all His ways and any idea counter to that truth must be thrown out. Only then can we truly put our faith in God. We have gotten a false view of God because of pain in child hood when we had no resources in ourselves to tell us about God and how He works. If we had pain or abuse, we blamed God for allowing it to happen and not stopping it.

But God’s ways are not our ways. He wants us to learn how sinful sin is so we will resist it because we have learned personally the great pain that comes from sin. He wants us to learn that man will choose to hurt others and that is not His will, but it is His will that we have free will so we can choose to love and forgive. But that does leave open the choice to hurt and destroy.

God is perfect and righteous in all His ways. Go forward with faith in Him by working through any way that you have felt that He is not good. Choose to have faith in Him. Speak out your faith by saying,” I believe, help my unbelief.” Put away old judgments of God. They are useless. Go on to please God and be righteous by having faith in Him.

Also we must see that if we want the power of God to heal us or to bless us, we must have faith. Jesus said about His own hometown, “Only in his hometown among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.” He could not do any miracles there, except to lay hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.

In many instances, Jesus said, ” Your faith has made you whole.” when He prayed for people to be healed. May we learn this important principle. We will receive healing, freedom and peace from the Lord as we have faith before we see the fulfillment of our prayer.

Even as you work for freedom from homosexuality, it is vital that you see your work as bearing fruit in you that you are not yet able to experience. God is working out of you the ungodliness and wickedness as you turn to Him in faith. Believe He is setting you free.

Do not dwell on how frustrating every sexual temptation is. Rather see every sexual temptation as an opportunity to get in touch with the old ungodly lies that drive the temptation if you resist the fix and sit down to let God reveal to you the roots underneath the temptation.

Write them down and praise God for His faithfulness to reveal the truth to you. Have faith that you will be set free and fulfilled. Then you will be in the right spirit to receive and believe the truth that will set you free. The old frustration and your case against God will break and you will find sweet fellowship with the Lord.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands.

This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. I John 5:1-5
