A major ingredient for moving into freedom from homosexuality is having a healthy selfhood. So many people who come to be set free from this sin have never realized who they are as an individual. There are various reasons for this lack. One reason is the lack of attention, affection and affirmation that the parents should have given to a child so he or she would realize they are unique and individual with qualities that are given by God to bless the world.

No One is Created Homosexual

In the problem of continuing acceptance of homosexuality as a viable lifestyle, there is no greater question that needs to be addressed than the question of whether or not a person is created homosexual. If in fact God creates people with intrinsic homosexual desires and planned for them to live out those desires, then gay marriage, gay adoption, gay spousal benefits and acceptance of homosexuality as a viable lifestyle would be right and good.

The Truth About Looking - Don't Feed the Fear

Chris's Journal Entry

I’ve been around this ministry for years now and more recently I’ve been riddled by thoughts – will I ever change, am I going to keep making the same mistakes over and over again? OK, so I asked those questions just about every four months. But I’m still not interested in wearing a t-shirt that says "Lifer at LIFE". I want to move on, I want to be married, so I’ve been motivated to consider living another way.

Working the Emotional Roots of Homosexuality - Part 6

Putting an End to Contending with God. Homosexual desires are often rooted in a deep-seated case against God. Hot emotions such as anger, disappointment, confusion, or fear are stored from painful situations in childhood. From the pain the person questions why God permitted such things to happen. Many feel frustrated that God seemed to ignore their prayers and did just what He wanted, permitting the suffering to continue or even get worse. To many, it seemed like they were pushing against an immovable wall or blocked from the happiness they sought.

Watch Your Words

It is truly eye-opening to see the strong statements in the Bible about the power of the tongue and the import of what we say on our lives. I suppose we should not be surprised, given the fact that God spoke the world into existence, and we, being made in His image, speak our world into existence. The most powerful words to shape our lives is our confession of faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and our personal Savior. This makes us a new creation in Christ, who comes to dwell in us.

Think on These Things

In the great eighth chapter of Romans, which is the solution to St. Paul's wrestling with his sin in chapter seven, we see a profound truth. It is that those who live according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires, set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh. But those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit, set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the Holy Spirit. So the life of the Spirit requires a mind change.

Is Homosexual Desire a Sin?

Within the past month on the television broadcast of 20/20 there were three ministries that help people out of homosexuality represented and they put forth the message that people who have homosexual desire for the same sex will always have that desire and the need then is only to learn to choose not to act on those inherent desires. This is departure from the scriptures in that we are called to be holy as He is holy, to be purified, to be washed, sanctified ( set apart for holy use) and justified (made as if we had not sinned). As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.

How to Resist Sin

There is an old story here at L.I.F.E. about a man who asked us in a support group meeting what he should do about resisting sin when another man comes to his door late at night and wants to have sex with him. We said, "Close the door!" It seems funny that we do not think of the obvious but rather feel a lot of conflicting emotions when faced with such a situation. Some people say they don't know what they would do in such a case. We always say that if you don't know what you would do when someone comes to you to tempt you, then your decision is already made for you.

All of us have felt anger and probably continue to feel anger when we are hurt, abused or wronged. There is no doubt that we need to look at this very powerful and potentially deadly emotion and learn how we can deal with it in our lives. The scriptures speak clearly in regard to this emotion and show us how to deal with anger with the purifying power of the truth of God. We see that the scriptures do not expect us never to be angry and even set forth the truth that there is a righteous form of anger.
